'Arches, North Court, San Xavier del Bac, Tucson, Arizona' - Ansel Adams

I love this image simply for the love I have for every religion. As a muslim I love when photographers capture the beautiful of churches, mosques, temples and so on. This image from Ansel Adams was taken in 1968 in Arizona. The light exposes the beauty of this church where as the greyscale of the image shadows in the background allowing the the architecture of the Church shine through. Having come across this image it drew me to capture such pure happiness that religion has to offer.

Ansel Adam capture the reality and the raw beauty of life, he does not believe in "to soften realism, resorting to soft-focus lenses, brush strokes on the negative, soft-texture papers—anything that would make their photographs not look like photographs." [Ansel realized that, as Imogen Cunningham said, “there are fewer good photographers than painters. There is a reason. The machine does not do the whole thing.” He also realized that the two-dimensional, monotone nature of a black and white photographic image was in itself a radical departure from reality and needed no further embellishments.]

The images below are my own images in which I was inspired by Ansel Adams.

These images are images of when I was in Dubai, India and different parts in London of which I came across a Temple, Synagogue, Church etc. The feeling I had when entering and leaving these holy places was undescriable, They contained such an inspirational atmosphere showing me how blessed I am to be alive and witness such a alluring pieces of architecture. What I attempted to do with these images was what Ansel Adams done with his image above. I tried to brighten up the image to show its true perfection by turning the rest into a light shade of grey. I removed the colour of these images because I believe for something as incrediable as these they don't need colour to highlight their perfections, therefore I made them black and white where the beauty of them still shines through just as powerful. Some images contain darker shadows and some not so dark, this is purely just to capture and expose the rare detail of architecture that people tend to miss when looking at them.
